About

City Financial Times is a student-led platform founded at City, St George’s, dedicated to exploring the world of finance, economics, and data-driven analysis. Our mission is to make complex financial topics accessible to students and young professionals while connecting academic theory with real-world economic applications.

We believe financial literacy and analytical thinking are essential skills for success in today’s global economy. Through weekly articles, we aim to break down market movements, economic policies, and corporate developments into clear, insightful discussions. Our coverage spans a wide range of topics from macroeconomics, global markets, and monetary policy to more specialized areas such as mergers and acquisitions (M&A), investment banking, and private equity.

By combining financial theory with data analytics, we seek to provide readers with both quantitative insight and practical understanding. Each article is written to foster curiosity, critical thinking, and awareness of the rapidly evolving financial landscape.

At City Financial Times, we are dedicated to fostering a community of aspiring finance professionals who share a passion for learning, collaboration, and personal growth. This platform serves as both a learning resource and a space for thoughtful discussion about the trends, deals, and innovations shaping the future of global finance

The Founder of  City Finanical Times

My name is Ali Mrad, and I am a second-year student at City, St George’s, University of London, pursuing a degree in Financial Economics. I have a strong interest in understanding how finance, markets, and data analytics shape global economies and investment strategies.

During my International Baccalaureate (IB) studies, I took ITGS HL, Economics HL, and Mathematics AA HL, as these subjects closely aligned with my academic and professional goals. My long-term ambition is to pursue a career in private equity, where I can combine analytical thinking, financial strategy, and data-driven insights to create value and support business growth.

I founded City Financial Times to provide a platform that helps both myself and other students expand our understanding of finance and economics through research, writing, and critical analysis. By sharing insights and exploring current financial trends, I aim to foster a collaborative learning environment where students and aspiring professionals can develop their skills and knowledge together.

This initiative reflects my belief that learning should be active, shared, and practical. City Financial Times is designed to be a space where curiosity meets ambition — helping readers gain experience, strengthen their understanding of finance, and work toward achieving their professional goals.
